In what way did the Court's decision lead President Nixon to resign?

Mr Nixon tried to use Executive Priviledge as a way to stop the special investigator form getting the tapes of his conversations in his office. The courts ruled against that, and when they did, he tried to fire the special investigator. That was also ruled illegal by the court. Mr Nixon would have then had to turn over the incriminating evidence, but resigned instead.
