Computer displays a white line down screen?

my laptop is less than 1 year old, about a month ago it showed a thin white line down the centre, at the time i found running my finger down the line firmly got rid of the problem or simply adjusting the laptop screen positioning, however recently it has become thicker and impossible to get rid of. what could be wrong, and how much could this cost to repair? it is an advent verona.
