Why do some white americans hate asians(indian and chinese)?

I just dont understand...I was born here in the united states...my parents came through the legal process and ped the us citizenship test...they are software engineers who have no desire to fight anyone...our philosophy is based upon gandhi who stresses non-violence...yet i get hared tonight at a bar for being indian...and yes this guy actually came out and said so...and tried to beat me up for it...it was terrible...
