Recommended camera's?

Im hoping to be getting a camera for my birthday but im not quite sure on what one to get. I don't want a normal digital camera but would prefer the dark photographer ones that have a large Lens. I will be using this for normal portrait photo's of people, i like for features to stand out and look sharpened. Do you guys know of any good ones that you could recommend?
